About
At Signext Energy Limited, we make it a point of duty as part of our corporate governance to ensure that we protect the environment we operate in; most especially our host communities. It goes without saying, that the depletion of the ozone layer isn’t something new to anyone, be it individuals, organizations or even government cannot sweep it under the carpet anymore. Everyone is feeling the impact of global warming now more than ever. This is why we at Signext Energy take it upon ourselves to remain socially responsible in our operations across board. We commenced our lithium mining and exploration business in 2023 with aim of harmonising the host communities better than how we met them.
This is why we are working in conjunction with the village heads and the entire communities at large to ensure that we maintain an ecosystem balance and preservation at all times. We are conscious of the damaging effects of careless exploration activities and this is why we have taken it upon ourselves to remain a crusader of safe exploration operations in all we do. We advocate generally and individually carry out regular comprehensive environmental assessments of our operations. We encourage stakeholder engagements and welcome regulatory oversights to ensure responsible resource extraction in our operations.
Our Solution
We are in the forefront of helping the host communities maintain a good and sustainable water recycling systems, disturbed land rehabilitation and minimizing chemical usage. We, as an organization have a threshold and target of reducing greenhouse effect to the barest minimum by the year 2030. We also have a zero-emission policy that we put in place since the inception of our exploration business and we are closely monitoring our newly implemented Carbon Capture and Storage (CSS), all in our bid to ensure we create a safe and sustainable work environment. We know this to be true, that fossil fuels when burned, release large amounts of carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas, into the air.
Greenhouse gases trap heat in our atmosphere, causing global warming. Already the average global temperature has increased by 3 degree celsius. Producing and burning fossil fuels creates air pollution that harms our health and generates toxic emissions that drive climate change. From the electricity that lights our homes to the cars we drive to work, modern life was built on fossil fuels like coal, oil and natural gas.
Conclusion
We know for a fact that the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) postulated that Co2 emissions from fossil fuel combustion has increased by about 50% since the pre-industrial era, leading to rising global temperatures and climate disruptions. We were at the just concluded Nigeria-Finland Roundtable on Energy Transition Innovation and Partnership in Vaasa, Finland, where our Group Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Lekan Ajisafe shared some insights into the future of greenhouse gas effects, carbon capture and journey towards zero emission in the working environment.
At the summit, he rubbed minds with experts from across the globe to try and proffer solutions to the environmental issues at hand. With this fore-knowledge, we, at Signext Energy are striving against all odds to make certain that we do not create any disruption to unbalance the ecosystem. We have borrowed a lease from Denmark and adopted their strategy of generating over 40% of energy consumables through renewable energy. They have a target that by 2050 they would generate 100% of their energy from wind energy and we are following closely behind them.
